![]() ![]() ![]() I've been reading about artefacts and false details being introduced. Looks like DXO is starting to push the envelope with XD because like all others you have to come up with something better every fall. In the mean time I don't mind using a 3rd party apps (including PureRaw) while enjoying the masking and other things Adobe has added over the years, including Portfolio that is integrated with LrC. Adobe is already showing NR in the PS Neural filter wait list so it is coming. ![]() Robin Whalley did a video about it :Īnyone who has been here for a while knows that Adobe has not kept up to DXO or other 3rd party apps for NR. Lens correction in DxO is superior to Lightroom. Regarding DxO and high iso, Check out these picture from another thread here: IMOPO among these, which one is 'best' depends more on the particular user's needs and preferences than on some overall major advantage of one over another.Īlso, of course, if you have a license for the current Photoshop, ipso facto you also have a license for the current Lightroom. Depending on what you do and/or want to do, one category or another might make more sense for you.Īnd I say that agreeing with the basic views that DxO PhotoLab and Capture One are probably two of the three best raw converters (the full ACR, via Lightroom or Photoshop but not Photoshop Elements, probably being the third), and that these days most people rarely need more than a good raw converter. There are packages that are mostly raw converters with maybe / in some cases some additional capability (DxO PhotoLab, Capture One, Lightroom, RawTherapee, Darktable, On1 Photo Raw, maybe Lightzone), packages that are mostly pixel editors with maybe / in some cases some additional capability (Serif Affinity Photo, GIMP), and packages that are (or my impression is, are) about equally both (Photoshop including ACR, Photoshop Elements, ACDSee). I don't really see this as comparing similar software packages. He is either using LR6 or doesn’t know how to use LrC. He also said other competitors are faster. Also it does not have masking abilities of LR. ![]() The only advantage DXO has over LR is noise reduction. Also comparing Photoshop to DXO PL is comparing apples to oranges. I am using LR for the RAW conversion and I do not find DXO PL6 to be faster in achieving the result. When somebody says "better" it is so subjective I do not even want to go there. I have LR Classic, Photoshop, DXO PL 6 and ACDSee Unlimited 2022. He did not mention DarkTable or Raw Therapee.Ĭheck out the article if you want more info. Coral AfterShot Pro 3 and Paintshop Pro 2023.Many photographers I know have ditched Photoshop in favor of this feature-packed editor. I could quickly get better results from them than using Photoshop.Īlthough not a DAM program, it would be remiss of me not to mention Affinity Photo 2. I'd heard many good things about both but hadn't tested them, and it surprised me how good they were. If, like me, you rarely do more than process raw images, for image quality, both Capture One, and DxO PhotoLab 6 share first place. What I got from his opinion is that Photoshop may be the overall best when it comes to what you can accomplish generally, DxO Phtotolab 6 and Capture One produced better RAW editing results easier and faster.
